And by "fondness" I mean an intense, fervent, fanatic, obsessive zeal and undying passion for the sassy songstress.
In fact, I am rather surprised with myself that this blog has existed for almost a month and I have only mentioned her once!
With 20 million albums sold, 4 Grammys, 4 American Music Awards, and 18 Billboard Music Awards, Rihana is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. She's the youngest artist in the world to have 10 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, and has recorded 5 full albums in only 5 years. But she is almost as famous for her cutting edge fashion as she is her music.
I decided to honor my love for Rihanna by presenting a countdown of some of my favorite Rihanna looks! I originally attempted a list of 10 looks, but soon found it impossible. So I decided to present you with 15 of my favorite Rihanna looks, broken into 2 parts.
So, without further ado, let the countdown begin....

In June of last year, Rihanna was spotted out and about with her BFF Melissa in LA in this adorable outfit. She paired the floral tube top with a pair of high-waisted polka dot shorts, and spiked Christian Louboutin Clou Noeud heels. She completed the look with gold hoops, bangles, and a girly fedora. Not many (a.k.a. nobody) could mix prints like this and still look this good, but leave it to my girl Rih Rih to pull it off.

Rihanna was spotted in this little red number back in 2009, while getting wasted celebrating the release of her 4th album at Nozomi in London. She rocked a red mini dress by Mark Fast (I love the fringy bits), grey Christian Louboutin booties, and a wild bag from Louis Vuitton's Spring 2010 collection.
I love this look. It is just so festive! The little wristlet/bag thing is so fun, the color of the dress is very pretty, and I LOVE how her eyeliner mimics it. Work it guuuurl.

Here we have Miss Fenty stepping out in Soho in this suuuuper cute outfit she wore last November. She's wearing a black and white Proenza Schouler cropped sweater, black mini skirt, sheer tights, and black Azzedine Alaia booties. She topped the look off with a black knit beret and rich, red hair. This look is so chic! So French! I love it! And this is not a hard look to imitate either. You could find a vintage sweater at a thrift shop (the one above costs $2,500.....), a black mini, tights, and heeled booties. And of course a funky beret!
And her makeup is perfection. Look at those lips!

Back in May of 2009, Rihanna rocked this head-to-toe Louis Vuitton ensemble to the 3rd Annual DKMS gala. This is such an edgy and fashion-forward look. The futuristic, metallic top is balanced out by the rich, raspberry skirt, and anchored by the black boots. And please notice that ring made out of SPIKES.
I've heard people say that Rihanna and other pop stars have tried to copy Lady Gaga's outrageous style, but when Rihanna rocked this edgy look, Gaga was merely a footnote in the music industry. Over the years Rihanna has developed her own unique style, and in my opinion she is one of the most original stars in today's entertainment biz.

Rih Rih strutted her stuff on the orange carpet at last year's Kid's Choice Awards in this sassy look. Rihanna worked it in a flirty Christian Dior dress, taupe Brian Atwood heels, and Neil Lane diamond jewelry.
Now, the most controversial thing about this look are obviously the socks. I remember when the blogs were filled with people debating over whether the socks were hot or not. Personally, I would not have worn the socks with this look, but I still think she looked fabulous! The two-toned hair is hot.
(Sidebar: I remember watching Rihanna's performance at the KCAs last year. Nickelodeon had her perform a heavily watered down version of "Rude Boy". Weird, since that song is not exactly child-friendly.)

Rihanna shut down the red carpet back in December 2008 at Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball in London. The impeccably tailored black jumpsuit was the perfect background to showcase her fabulous spiked Burberry Prorsum necklace. She completed the look with black Louboutins pumps, diamond bracelets, and bright yellow nails.
This outfit epitomizes effortless style. It is restrained, but still gives major impact. Ladies: punctuate an all black outfit by adding one extreme, outrageous standout piece. So chic.

Miss Fenty wore this fun and flirty look in Madrid last summer. She went out for ice cream rocking this black and white kanga romper by SUNO, and nude/black ankle strap Lanvin pumps. Vintage-inspired sunnies topped it all off.
We'd live in a much more fashionable world if every woman would dress up like this to go get ice cream. I don't have much to say about this look besides the fact that it is really friggin' fabulous. And this is probably my favorite of all of Rihanna's bajillion hairstyles. That honey blond does wonders for her complexion.

Rihanna was spotted in August 2008 shopping with her BFF Melissa and her younger brothers, Rorrey and Rajad. She hit up Melrose Avenue in a Matthew Williamson top, black shorts, and....those boots.
These, ladies and gentlemen, are gladiator sandals boots from the Balenciaga Spring 2008 collection. These boots mean a lot to me...but that's a story for another day. Let's just talk about this outfit. Many people would be afraid to wear that busy printed top and those graphic boots, but of course Rihanna had the guts to try it. And I think she was quite successful! So many people are afraid to mix prints because they don't know how, and they're scared of how it may turn out. Truth is, there is no exact science when it comes to mixing prints. Sometimes you've just got to trust your instinct.
Or just take a page from Rihanna's style playbook!
Well folks, this is the end of Part 1! I hope you enjoyed it so far. It was tough narrowing down all of Rihanna's outfits into a select few. Stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion!
